Look Inside: Radiology Intranet Toolbox

Jan. 31, 2018

What do org charts, data requests, logos, project status reports, handbooks, and phone lists have in common?

They’re all part of the Emory Radiology Online Toolbox now available on the department’s Intranet home page. The one-stop central source of powerful resources and tools is easily accessible for faculty, staff, and trainees. Start from www.radiology.emory.edu and click Intranet on the left navigation bar; enter your Emory University or Emory Healthcare NETID and password when prompted. Scroll down the Intranet landing page to find the Toolbox.

“We started revamping the Intranet last winter to make it more user-friendly,” says Camille Dingle, Emory Radiology’s communications project manager. “Not only did we need to update information already on the Intranet, we needed to redesign the way information was presented to make it easier to navigate.”

Resources are organized alphabetically and grouped according to the type of need or issue the resource(s) address(es). The grid design features large callout buttons that pair words with representative images for a clean look and intuitive navigation. Simply click the graphic callout button to access the tool(s).

The project benefited from good timing as well as expert execution. “When I went into the Essentials of Leadership program (offered by Learning and Organizational Development at Emory) last winter, I thought it would be a great opportunity for creating an Emory Radiology Communications Toolbox on the Intranet as my capstone project,” Camille explains.  “Going through the program at the same time as I was taking the Project Management Professional certificate program at Georgia Tech boosted my organizational skills to where a complicated project like this not only was feasible, it was enjoyable.”

The entire Communications and Creative Service team was involved in the toolbox project. Here are some of the new resources now available:

  • Video-Enhanced Leadership Org Chart: In addition to static, graphic org charts, the page features videos in which leaders explain who they are and what they do.
  • Emory Radiology Style Guide: This new resource not only answers common grammar and punctuation questions, it also provides templates for email signatures and provides the correct naming conventions for Emory University, Emory Healthcare, And Emory Radiology entities. The guide aligns the department’s communications practices with Emory University’s Editorial Style Guidelines and can be downloaded and printed for quick access.
  • Social Media: Clicking the social media callout button takes users to a listing of the department’s Twitter handles plus access to the department’s new Twitter Guidelines.

Check out the new toolbox on the Emory Radiology Intranet page for these and other great resources. Need it but don’t see it? Complete the short survey at the bottom to suggest resources you’d like to see added to the Toolbox.
