The Vascular & Interventional Radiology Service at the Emory University Affiliated Hospitals is composed of six faculty working at several affiliated sites. The section has excelled in clinical service in the metro Atlanta area and has pioneered a variety of procedures such as: varicose vein ablation, the use of Sirtex for treatment of a variety of neoplasms and uterine artery embolization for uterine fibroids. The section has been approved for five ACGME fellows per year. The training program for fellows and residents is designed to provide the trainee with a knowledge base and practical experience in both vascular and non-vascular diagnostic and interventional radiology. This training provides them with the knowledge to sufficiently support their needs as general diagnostic radiologists upon graduation from the fellow/residency training program.
