The Division of Neuroradiology is composed of 14 talented faculty with a variety of areas of special expertise.
Advanced neuroimaging techniques are routinely utilized by the division including functional MRI, MR perfusion, MR spectroscopy, diffusion tensor imaging, time-resolved MR angiography, CT angiography, and CT perfusion. The subdivision of Head and Neck Imaging has expanded under the directorship of Dr. Patricia Hudgins, including a busy image-guided head and neck biopsy service. Specialized faculty support Pediatric Neuroradiology based at the Egleston and Hughes Spalding locations of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. The Grady Memorial Hospital system has provided extensive experience with imaging of stroke and head trauma. More recent endeavors include development of fetal MRI and interventional MRI services. State-of-the-art imaging equipment is present at all sites to support our clinical service. Multiple collaborative efforts for research are in place with various clinical services as well as basic researchers.
Our education focus encompasses 7 to 8 ACGME accredited diagnostic neuroradiology fellows per year. A series of well-designed rotations at the multiple clinical sites provides tremendous experience in all aspects of diagnostic neuroradiology including advanced MRI applications, head and neck imaging, pediatric neuroradiology, neuroangiography, and image guided procedures. The Division of Neuroradiology is a vital constituent of numerous interdisciplinary clinical management and educational conferences with Neurology, Neuro-ophthalmology, Neuro-oncology, Neurosurgery, Otolaryngology, and Orthopedics.
- Amit Saindane, MD
Director, Division of Neuroradiology
Ashley Aiken, MD
Assistant Professor
Associate Program Director, Neuroradiology Fellowship
Dr. Aiken recently acquired the role of Associate Director for the
Neuroradiology fellowship program. The Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences has one of the largest Neuroradiology fellowships in the country. This year the division has eight new fellows. Dr. Aiken will work with Dr. Hudgins, Director of Neuroradiology Fellowhip, to oversee the program.

Southeastern Neuroradiological Society
Caput Astrum Award
The Annual Meeting of the Southeastern Neuroradiological Society was held October 20-22, 2011 at The Breakers in Palm Beach, FL. Emory Radiology was highly represented at this year's conference.
One of the popular sessions at the meeting is the "Stump the SENRS Stars" session, which is an educational and informative session. This session challenges the expertise of teams of Neuroradiologists competing for the annual "Caput Astrum Award". Drs. Mark Mullins, Jack Fountain, Chad Holder and Arun Krishnan participated on the award winning team that won the "Caput Astrum Award."
Dr. Ashley Aiken was the invited speaker for The State of the Art Annual Lecture. She presented "Acute Comprehensive Stroke Imaging."

Top Atlanta Doctors
Atlanta Magazine named Dr. Patricia Hudgins as one of the Atlanta Metro area Top Doctors of Diagnostic Radiology in their June 2011 issue. The doctors were chosen after consulting data gathered by the New York-based research firm Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. The unique selection process allows physicians to nominate other physicians that they feel are clinically outstanding, both regionally and nationally.
