Emory University is located in the beautiful Druid Hills residential area of Atlanta, approximately six miles northeast of downtown. Atlanta is only a one-hour drive from Lake Lanier recreational area. The beautiful North Georgia Mountains are a two-hour drive away. Both the Atlantic and Gulf coast beaches are within a five-hour drive.
Distinguished by urban sophistication, Atlanta retains its southern warmth and charm. While downtown and midtown are characterized by an ultramodern skyline, quiet, tree-lined neighborhoods can be found as well.
Outdoor enthusiasts can find clubs for running, bicycling and many other sports.
Emory University is a coeducational, private university. Founded in 1836 in Oxford, Georgia, the college moved to Atlanta in 1915, at which time the medical school was established.
