A variety of medical facilities in Atlanta affords a broad exposure to different patient populations and is a significant asset to the training program.
Emory University Hospital is a 604-bed tertiary care hospital with approximately 151,000 cases performed in 2006. The hospital is located on the main campus of Emory University. State-of-the-art equipment is present in the hospital (Multidetector CT, MRI, PET-CT, ultrasound rooms, and General Vascular and Neurointerventional suites, in addition to the routine studies) with PACS and voice recognition equipment throughout the Emory system.
The Emory Clinic (TEC) is a thriving multi-specialty 900-physician group practice. Each faculty person holds an appointment in the Emory University School of Medicine, ranked in the top 20 medical schools in the country. TEC employs all radiology faculty practicing at Emory or Grady Hospitals. This outpatient site performed approximately 124,000 cases in 2006 on state-of-the-art equipment (Multidetector CT, MRI, CT-PET, and ultrasound rooms, a large breast imaging section, in addition to the routine studies). TEC includes the Winship Cancer Institute, which serves Georgia and the Southeast.
Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) Egleston Campus at Emory University is the largest pediatric multi-specialty group practice in Georgia. The Egleston campus is composed of Emory University School of Medicine physician faculty members involved in pediatric clinical services, teaching and research as well as child advocacy. The Emory Children's Center provides general and sub-specialty pediatric care at Children's at Egleston and Hughes Spalding, and the nurseries at Emory Crawford Long and Johns Creek hospitals.
Grady Memorial Hospital is a 968-bed county hospital that serves the greater Atlanta area as a Trauma I Center. This facility is located in downtown Atlanta and is governed by the Fulton-DeKaIb Authority. Emory Radiology supports the radiological needs in this very active hospital. Equipment includes CT units, ultrasound units, general vascular suites and fluoroscopy at the main Hospital; CT and MRI units are also located at an adjacent imaging center. A new Women's Breast Cancer Center funded by Avon and a state-funded cancer initiative work in conjunction with the Breast Center at Emory.
Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) is a federal hospital facility for general medical and surgical patients, located two-miles from Emory University Hospital. An extended-care facility is adjacent to the main hospital. The Atlanta VAMC has one of the largest research programs among the VA hospitals nationally.
Emory University Hospital Midtown is a community-based tertiary care center located in Atlanta's mid-town. The hospital is well known for surgical and cardiac care. This site, staffed by the Emory Community Radiology division, which performs approximately 137,000 exams per year on state-of-the-art equipment.
Emory Johns Creek is a 110-bed, all private room hospital featuring some of the most advanced medical technologies available. This hospital serves the city of Johns Creek and the surrounding communities.
Emory Orthopedics & Spine Center is a 95,000-square-foot facility located at Executive Park where the services are integrated to provide all aspects of care under one roof. Emory Radiology supports the Emory Spine Center and utilizes advanced imaging modalities, such as, 1.5T and 3T MRI units, which are both equipped with a HDx platform.
Wesley Woods Center is a 100-bed hospital dedicated primarily to geriatric care. Radiology services include CT, MRI, fluoroscopy and interventional radiology.
