Ji Chen, PhD
Title: Assistant Professor of Radiology
Division: Research
Focus Area: Nuclear Cardiology
Fellowship: Postdoctoral Fellow in Nuclear Medicine Physics, Emory University
University: Georgia Institute of Technology
Current Organization: Society of Nuclear Medicine, American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers
Career Sketch: Dr. Chen joined Emory in 2003 after he finished his PhD at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Dr. Chen’s research interests are development of novel techniques for cardiac imaging with SPECT, PET, CT, and multi-modality hybrid systems, development of novel techniques for cardiac imaging with various radiopharmaceuticals, quantification of cardiac perfusion, function, blood flow and metabolism images, and small-animal cardiovascular imaging. In the past 3 years Dr. Chen published 11 articles in leading medical journals. Recently Dr. Chen has developed Phase Analysis technique to use electrocardiography-gated myocardial perfusion imaging to assess left-vetricular dyssynchrony. Lef-ventricular dyssynchrony is an important indicator of the functional status of the heart for diagnosis and treatment assessment of patients with heart failure. With this innovation, Dr. Chen received the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology/GE Healthcare Research Award for Basic and Applied Sciece in 2006.
