Richard A. Jones, PhD
Title: Assistant Professor
Division: MR Research
Focus Area: Neurosciences, Renal function
Current Organization: International Society for Magnetic Resonance
Career Sketch: Dr. Jones has a strong interest in an integrated approach which looks both at the anatomy and the function of the organ of interest. In the brain, he is using morphometric techniques to measure the thickness of the cerebral cortex and a combination of fMRI and DTI to probe the function of the brain. In the kidney, they have developed a technique for 3D urography which provides the basis for 3D volume rendered images of the renal collecting systems, ureters and bladder. To assess the function of the kidney, they have developed dynamic imaging techniques and a method for comparmental analysis of the data which can estimate single kidney GFR.
