Career Sketch: • Dr. Mao is engrosed in his research and is widely recognized for his contributions to the many publications featuring the results of his research. His current initiative include:

 

- Developing methods for in vivo Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) with emphasis in neuroimaging

- Developing clinical applications of MRI and MRS

- Developing in vivo and ex vivo nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) or MRS for metabolite profiling

- Imaging of human brain functions and neurological diseases/disorders

- Cancer imaging and diagnosis

- Developing MRI based methodology for molecular and cellular imaging

- Developing novel MRI contrast agents;

- Medical applications of nanomaterials and nanotechnology

- Studying cellular and tissue biochemistry using high field solid state or solution NMR
