Career Sketch: Dr. Baron joined the faculty at Emory University in September 1981 as Associate Chairman of the Department of Radiology. Previously he was head of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology at the Mt Sinai Hospital in New York City; Professor of Radiology at the Mt Sinai School of Medicine and, for the previous five years, Chairman of Radiology at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, NY.
He has co-authored a textbook “Radiology of the Chest”, contributed multiple chapters to major texts in Cardiology and Radiology, and has published over 100 articles in refereed medical journals. The latter have included basic observations regarding the imaging of congenital cardiac lesions, especially those related to endocardial cushion defects. Dr. Baron is an active teacher of cardiothoracic radiology. He is a past Associate Editor of Circulation, editing and writing a monthly column: Radiologic Notes in Cardiology. He has lectured extensively including the annual Heberding Memorial Lecture in Ohio and the first annual C. B. Rabin lectureship in New York. In 2008, he was awarded the Gold Medal of the North American Society of Cardiac Imaging.
