Career Sketch: After contributing 22 years of her career to Emory, Elizabeth Gurtler-Krawczynska, MD, PhD was honored at her Retirement Reception held on Wednesday, May 28, 2008.
Originally from Poland, Dr. Gurtler-Krawczynska acclimated to the culture of the United States, mastered the language and adapted to the differences in the scientific and medical arenas. In 1986, she began at Emory as a Visiting Research Fellow in the Radiology Department. For many years, she worked on the NIH funded study Emory Angioplasty versus coronary bypass Surgery Trail project (called EAST). She worked closely with many of the radiology physicians and researchers including Dr. Naomi Alazraki and Dr. Ernest Garcia, on the PERFEX study.
Dr. Gurtler-Krawczynska has contributed to several publications on a range of topics including Nuclear Cardiology. Her research has been presented at various meetings and published in numerous peer-review journals.
