Career Sketch: With over 32 years of extensive experience in Radiology Operations, Chrystal Barnes proves to be a valuable asset to our Radiology Department as Assistant Director for Imaging Services at Emory University Hospital. Currently, she assists in overseeing the daily operations of the Radiology department to help ensure quality, access and budget goals are achieved. Additionally, she works with the Imaging Service Director, Charles Powell, to meet the clinical needs of physicians, staff and members of the department.
Previous to her current appointment, Chrystal was a Teleradiology Manager for the Emory Clinic where she managed the staff and workflow relevant to outside reporting for remote sites, as well as, the reading room workflow for Physicians. She was also involved in the implementation of teleradiology RIS and of RadPeer as the Teleradiology Manager. She joined Emory in 2004 as a Radiology Applications Specialist where she has gained experience working with several software products, digital computer equipment and most radiology digital modalities.
As a Radiology Technologist, Chrystal's experience includes the areas of Diagnostic Ultrasound, Mammography, Interventional Radiology and MRI. From 1985 - 1997, she was a Computerized Tomography Supervisor. Chrystal later became an Assistant Manager for Radiology before she took on the role as Interventional Radiology Manager.
Chrystal has recently started to pursue her Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) Credentials.
