Career Sketch: Dr. Mehta completed a fellowship in Interventional Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania before joining the Emory University faculty in 2010. Prior to that, he did his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Emory University, during which time he served as chief resident. Since early on, Dr. Mehta has had a strong interest in education. Over the course of his residency and fellowship, he lectured extensively on a variety of topics in both diagnostic and interventional radiology. He also served on the Resident Education Committee, a panel composed of various hospital leaders with the purpose of evaluating and improving resident education.

Dr. Mehta's current areas of interest include chemoembolization and radioembolization for primary and secondary liver malignancies. He has lectured on these topics, both locally at Emory and at regional meetings. More recently, Dr. Mehta has developed an interest in the use of embolization in acute gastrointestinal bleeding. He led a multidisciplinary committee tasked with developing a hospital wide algorithm for the management of patients with acute GI bleeding at EUH.

In addition, Dr. Mehta specializes in performing Uterine Artery Embolization for patients with fibroids, endovenous laser ablation and sclerotherapy for patients suffering from varicose veins, kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty for patients with painful vertebral compression fractures, as well as, cryoablation and radiofrequency ablation for renal tumors. In addition to the wide array of procedures performed by Dr. Mehta, he has also developed a special interest in performing TIPS for patients with portal hypertension. He is currently accepting patients for the treatment of all these ailments in his clinic.
