Career Sketch: Dr. Alazraki has been practicing nuclear medicine for the last 36. She trained in radiology and nuclear medicine at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Alazraki has served as President, Society of Nuclear Medicine, 1990-91 and as Secretary, Trustee (8 years), representative to the Academy for Radiology Research, and Chair, Academic Council. She is currently on the Board of Directors of the Education and Research Foundation of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and was recently elected Historian for the Society of Nuclear Medicine. She also served government in the following capacities: NIH, Diagnostic Radiology Study Section Advisory Committee; FDA, Chair, Radiological Devices Panel of the Medical Devices Advisory Committee; NRC, Advisory Committee for Medical Uses of Isotopes; VA, President, National Association of VA Chiefs of Nuclear Medicine and Chief Medical Director’s clinical and programs advisory council. Dr. Alazraki has published 166 peer-reviewed scientific articles, 43 chapters and co-authored 3 books (Fundamentals of Nuclear Medicine which sold ~50,000 copies, A Clinician’s Guide to Nuclear Medicine and A Clinician’s Guide to Nuclear Oncology and Nuclear Molecular Imaging [2007]). She serves on the editorial board, Journal of Nuclear Medicine. She also holds American Board of Nuclear Medicine and American Board of Diagnostic Radiology certifications.
