Career Sketch: Laura Padgett joined Emory in the summer of 2007, filling the unique position of Recruitment and Event Coordinator. Since this time she has successfully contributed to recruiting numerous Faculty members for the Department of Radiology. Laura has also planned and carried out all department-wide events. She continues to play an active role in the department and uses her previous experience to prove to be a valuable resource for Radiology.

Laura is a member of the Radiology Department’s Welcome Committee, the Radiology Service Excellence Committee and the RSNA Planning Committee. Additionally, she attends several standard meetings such as the School of Medicine Faculty Affairs Meeting to stay connected with the Chair’s office and continue to communicate effectively with the Executive Committee.

Prior to joining the Department of Radiology at Emory, Laura was a Project Manager for the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) in the Division of Reproductive Health. With work experience as a manager of several large accounts and projects, in addition to fiscal responsibilities, Laura knows the importance of staying organized and budgeting accordingly for various events. She received her BBA in Marketing from North Georgia College & State University. Laura is currently in the process of completing a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) program, which distinguishes those career professionals who have decided to continue their education and have demonstrated a high level of experience, skill and knowledge. Additionally, Laura attended the Conference & Meeting Management Certificate Program (CMMC) through UGA to learn more about event planning and network with others in this field to assist with negotiations, effective budgeting and site selections for various departmental events.
