Career Sketch: Following his radiology residency, Dr. Baumgartner joined the faculty at Emory and has remained here since. After the Department was reorganized into divisions, he joined the Abdominal Division and genitourinary radiology became his area of interest. During his career here he has been very involved with teaching – both medical students and residents. He served as Associate Director of Medical Student Education and Associate Director of the Residency Program for a number of years before becoming Residency Program Director in 1993. A few years later he was appointed Vice Chair for Education. Dr. Baumgartner has been president of the Atlanta Radiological Society and the Southern Radiological Conference. He currently serves as an examiner for the American Board of Radiology oral examination and is Chair of the Emory Graduate Medical Education Executive Committee.
