Career Sketch: Dr. Raggi came to Emory in 2006 as an established specialist in the areas of internal medicine and cardiology after practicing at Tulane University. His accomplishments include being the founder and president of the Society of Atherosclerosis Imaging (2001-2004), consultant for almost 30 scientific medical publications and serving on the editorial board of four medical journals. Dr. Raggi has gained recognition through his continuing contributions to research in the area of cardiovascular disease specifically related to the imaging of vascular and myocardial diseases and has earned an international reputation in the area of coronary calcium screening. The current research of Dr. Raggi includes searching for surrogate markers of atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease in end stage renal disease and cardiovascular disease in chronic inflammatory diseases.
