Educational Programs

The Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Radiology is among the largest academic radiology departments in the nation with 136 faculty (clinical and research), 56 residents and approximately 25 fellows in multiple disciplines.

Emory Radiology has a long history of excellence in education for medical students, residents, and fellows.  As Vice Chair for Education, I have the privilege of monitoring not only our very robust medical student education program but also the residents' development as they rotate through the various divisions of our Department.

Recruiting highly skilled and talented residents is only the beginning. The trainees at Emory interact with quite varied patient populations at our diverse institutions that include Emory University Hospitals, Grady Memorial Hospital, Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta, and Veterans Administration Medical Center. This gives them exposure to a wide variety of pathology and considerable hands-on experience.  Growth in research activities in the Department provides the trainees with numerous opportunities for development in that direction as well.

A major factor in our success over the years is the trainees themselves. We have been fortunate to have individuals who work well together as a team to enhance their educational experience as well as to optimize patient care.
